Today – Tuesday 20th January 2026 – Universal Orlando Resort has finally announced the successor to the legendary Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit rollercoaster. Following in the footsteps of Universal Studios Hollywood, the Orlando counterpart will also be opening a new rollercoaster based on the popular ‘Fast and Furious’ movie franchise.

Opening in 2027, the attraction named Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift will be a new-style launch coaster by well-known manufacturer Intamin. The rollercoaster will reportedly feature high speed launches, the ability to rotate the cars (think Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind), and will become the tallest rollercoaster in all of Universal Orlando Resort!
The tallest point on the ride will be a 170 foot vertical spike – around 3 feet higher than it’s predecessor, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, and beating the next tallest coaster: Jurassic World Velocicoaster, which stands at 155 feet.

You may be wondering – doesn’t the Universal Studios Florida park ALREADY have a Fast and Furious ride? It DOES, but it has also been announced that attraction – ‘Fast and Furious Supercharged’ – will be closing for good in 2027. You still have the 2026 season to get your final rides in and say your goodbyes.
With the closure of Fast and Furious – Supercharged, quite a large area of the park could be opened up for future development. It will be interesting to see what experience may eventually replace this attraction. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves too soon!
